Aleš Opekar

Music writer, musicologist, member of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM). He works as a dramaturge of world music, jazz and alternative music at Czech Radio Station, Vltava. He lectures at universities and publishes in the professional press. He is the editor and author of the books Excentrici v přízemí (Eccentrics on the Ground) and Matadors – Beatová aristokracie z Prahy (Matators – Beat Aristocracy from Prague) as well as dictionary entries of various encyclopaedias in the field of popular music. He worked with Czech Television to create the documentary cycle, Bigbít (Bigbeat) while he is also the founder of the civic association, Muzeum a archiv populární hudby (Popmuseum – The Museum and Archive of Popular Music).
