Andrea Del Favero
Musician, producer, editor and Artistic Director of the international folk festival Folkest.

Born in San Daniele del Friuli, he studied at the Universities of Padua and Trieste. In 1976 he founded one of the very first private radios in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, co-founded the folk magazine Folkgiornale and was its editor for eight years. He also edited monthly magazines TuttoUdine, TuttoPordenone e TuttoBelluno and worked in newspapers Il Piccolo, Il Gazzettino e Messaggero Veneto, Rai, in private radios and TV channels. He is the Artistic Director of Folkest from the very first year in 1979.

As a musician he started his professional career in 1982 with the band La sedon salvadie, recording seven albums with this band. He has toured with a number of renowned musicians and has produced many cultural projects, live events and recordings. In 1995 he won the Moret d’aur Award, the most important award in culture of Friuli-Venezia region, for his long contribution to traditional music. He wrote a book covering traditional music of Friuli with a CD of musical samples and an anthology of Friulian poetry from 12th century to the early years of 20th century. In 2003 La sedon salvadei won the Giancarlo Deganutti Award for the best Friulian album of the year.

Andrea also worked for UNESCO studying music and cultures in the surroundings of the river Drava and recorded an album with the River’s Dream Band. During his career he recorded more than 40 albums with different bands and produced about 50 albums under different labels.
