Czeching is a music export project organised by Czech Radio aimed at supporting the Czech alternative music scene and helping promising bands to reach European listeners. Czeching also offers a platform for critical talks, a radio show, a competition between the top candidates, essential support for the winners of each edition as well as a calling card abroad for Czech non-mainstream artists. The winning band is selected from among six nominees by a jury of Czech and foreign music experts, producers, promoters and publishers. The band then has the opportunity to appear at the Eurosonic showcase festival and to make a professional recording which will subsequently be sent to European radio stations associated with the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).

The third edition in 2015 introduced a 17-member international expert panel, composed of European radio professionals spanning 10 countries. The highest score was chalked up by downtempo duo VR/NOBODY with our listeners voting for electronic producer Aid Kid. In 2016 Czeching will not only be a radio show broadcasted from 25th April every last Monday of the month on Radio Wave, but this year’s winner will be announced at the end of September on a special showcase event where all the 2016 nominees and one foreign guest will perform. The event will also feature debates and discussion with foreign experts and Czech jury members about music export and music industry in general.
