DIS IS MARKÉTA (SK)

The band DIS IS MARKĒTA consists of 5 musicians from different musical backgrounds, in which folklore, classical and experimental music are united. The result is a colorful palette of sounds – from an authentic suggestive song, through strong folk tunes in various sound alternatives and moods, to untraditional musical compositions. You can hear features of ambient and electronic music as well.

At the end of April 2022 the band released their debut EP "hrajžemi". Their songs were played multiple times in radio shows and during the last two years band played several concerts in Slovakia and Czech Republic. They were part of the project ''Na šnúre“ which nationwide public broadcasting slovak television hosted. In year 2023 EP received 2 final nominations by professional Slovak board and international board at the prestigious Radio_Head Awards in two genre categories - world music and folk music. Apart from the success at the Radio_Head awards, was the song „hrajžemi“ listed into expected CD selection – Best of World music from Slovakia 2019/2023 made by WOMUSK. The EP also entered the Top 20 albums of the October World Music Charts Europe (WMCE) album chart and was ranked 74th in the WMCE Top 200 Albums of 2023.
