FOLK&BASS ORCHESTRA AND WOMEN FROM MUZIČKA (SK)
Folklore as you don't know it, with a looper and synthesizers
The Folk&Bass Orchestra is a music group that combines traditional folk music from Slovakia with modern genres (D&B, Nujazz, pop,...). In our work you can experience the fusion of folk instruments (bagpipes, folk flutes, etc.) with electronic instruments, synthesizers and band rhythm section (bassguitar, drums).
Project combines live playing on folk instruments and electronic machines with ready-made loops. Folk instruments (bagpipes, folk flutes etc.) are played by the sought-after performer Juro Dufek, synthesizers, looper and sampler by Mišo Veslo, known from several pop and world music groups, bass is played by Martin Kalinka, a rock and funk player, drums are played by Vladi Paška, who professionally plays music from metal, jazz to all kinds of electronic music. The result is something that these guys named „folk & bass“.
Women from Muzička represent the world of "authentic" folklore music. They sing traditional folk songs from different parts of Slovakia. The result of this partnership is world music, or "neo-folklore”, an admixture of unadulterated authentic singing & music with a modern sound that is aimed at an audience without age limits. Children dance to our compositions while adult listeners appreciate the organic integration of the bagpipe into a modern, contemporary sound.
