The British music publisher and producer Dr. Lucy Duran lectures at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
She is currently one of the greatest experts on West African music. Her World Routes show on BBC 3 has opened the door to World Music for many listeners. She has produced albums for Toumani Diabaté, Trio Da Kali, Kassé Mady Diabaté and Bassekou Kouyaté, which have won the highest possible awards including Grammy nominations. Lucy has shot many significant and award-winning documentaries. Since 2009, she has been involved in the Growing Into Music project, which studies generational transfers of centuries-old traditions in the families of Mali, India, Cuba, and Azerbaijan. She focuses on children acquiring artistic excellence from their parents long before their school age.
